Dr. Ziemer joined PetRad, LLC in February, 2005 and is based at the Center for Animal Referral and Emergency Services in Langhorne, PA. She completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry at Bryn Mawr College and is a 1998 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where she also performed a residency in veterinary radiology. After obtaining board certification in radiology, she remained at the University of Pennsylvania as a senior research associate. In this capacity, she undertook postdoctoral studies in a research laboratory at the School of Medicine. Her research focused on molecular and optical imaging of cancer, investigating new ways to diagnose and characterize tumors in humans and animals. At the University, she also performed clinical duties in the section of radiology, taught veterinary students, and mentored veterinary interns and residents. The recipient of several national awards for her research, Dr. Ziemer has published numerous scientific peer-reviewed papers in both the veterinary and human medical literature and has lectured at scientific meetings. Dr. Ziemer is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American College of Veterinary Radiology.
Outside of work, Dr. Ziemer is a volunteer adult literacy tutor, is a board member of several non-profit organizations, plays the flute, and jogs. She is currently preparing to participate in the Philadelphia Distance Run to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training effort. She shares her home with her two cats, Meep and Lola.
